CAREER TRANSITION WORKSHOPS
Target group: Any level, recommend similar organizational levels in groups
Ideal Size: 8-10 participants

Includes 1, 2, or 3 Day Workshop, plus resume and cover letter on disk after workshop is completed

Most employees have never learned the most basic skills when it comes to all the materials and tasks necessary for a successful job search. The workshop will present the building blocks needed to get that next job quickly.

Using the group dynamics, topics and guidelines are presented and discussed, along with proprietary exercises in the workbooks. The displaced employee begins to understand the entire job search process, and how each component builds on the previous building block. At the end of the workshop, the participants will:

  • Be able to complete their resumes and cover letters for review and styling by LIO
  • Develop a specific job search target
  • Understand how the job search process really works and use the most effective processes
  • Be able to answer questions effectively in interviews
  • Develop confidence and skills to negotiate and accept a job offer
  • Have a plan to manage their job search and time effectively
  • Be more confident and enjoy the job search process more

QUICKSTART CAREER TRANSITION PROGRAM

Our most popular program!

After the workshop is completed and basic skills learned, this program provides additional one-one-one assistance, up to 6 contacts per month, to help the displaced employee implement the plans and use the tools taught in the workshop. By providing a "coach," the employee stands a better chance of getting the job search process off to a quick and action-oriented start.

Coaches are available via e-mail, phone or fax to assist in resume development, revision and refinement, cover letter customization, networking opportunities, reviewing interviews successes, writing targeted and powerful thank you notes, negotiating for the right salary and benefits, offer acceptance and getting off to a strong start with the new company.

Additionally, the clients will get their completed resume and cover letter posted to the top internet job boards and sites. QuickStart Program participants will also receive our ongoing E-newsletter, "CareerStrides NewsFlash", full of career tips, encouragement and success stories.

SUPERPOWER PROGRAM
30 Day increments up to twelve months
Customized, One-on-One assistance
Target Group: Any managerial or executive level

This program is perfect for managers and executives, or if you are just letting a few workers go and want to give them support and assistance for a period of time.

Coaches are available either in person, via e-mail, phone or fax to assist in resume development, revision and refinement, cover letter customization, networking opportunities, reviewing interviews successes, writing targeted and powerful thank you notes, negotiating for the right salary and benefits, offer acceptance and getting off to a strong start with the new company.

The SuperPower Program gives additional benefits not found in the QuickStart program; since the displaced employee receives customized and individualized attention, they are able to proceed at their own pace, and seek out advice and help when they need it. For those who are not sure if a career change is in order, several different career and preference assessments can be given and reviewed.

Additionally, SuperPower program participants will also get a customized database of Retained Recruiters, Contingency Recruiters, Venture Capital Firms, and Temp/Contract Placement to help aid in their job search.

EMPLOYEE NOTIFICATION/SEPARATION TRAINING

If you are faced with a reduction in force or layoff approaching, you need to get organized well in advance!

Long Island Outplacement can help in advance with your challenge of preparing and executing a successful employee termination meeting or session.

We prefer to come to your site in advance of the layoff and help your project get off to the right start. We advise a 2 hour training session for all managers and human resources professionals involved in the layoff. This will improve the execution and consistency of the process, and reduce the chance of a dramatic and perhaps expensive mistake being made.

Additionally, we recommend having a Long Island Outplacement representative onsite and available to talk to the departing employees as part of the informational process. If that is not possible, then we will provide a flyer for the employee's separation packets, and we will personally follow up with each employee.

This is an integral part of the outplacement process.
